Arden Dies has been working with packaging supplier Encore Packaging to optimise machine performance.
As a BOBST certified tooling supplier, we’ve been supporting Encore Packaging to ensure they’re getting the most out of their newest BOBST die-cutter, recently installed at their manufacturing site in Peterlee.
The partnership between BOBST and Arden Dies is designed to ensure both machine and tooling performances are optimised to deliver the best Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), which is the gold standard for measuring manufacturing productivity.
Prior to the machine installation, the programming team together with Graeme Doran, Tooling Regional Sales Manager at BOBST, agreed on best design and layout to optimise performance.
During the recent installation trial at the site, these levels of machine performance and productivity were achieved from the BOBST NOVACUT 106ER 3.0
Mr Russell Croisdale, ManagingDirector of Encore Packaging, said: “The BOBST installation and training went to plan and the initial machine make-ready and output performances were optimised at maximum speeds of 8,000 SPH on the first multi-up sleeve layouts and 8,000 SPH on a pet food carton, containing a reverse score pour spout feature.
“These initial performance trials were very encouraging, given the company’s investment commitment. We have continued to run both of these tooling layouts on several occasions and we are very pleased with the optimum run speeds achieved from both the machine and tooling.”
Simon Lynch, Operations Director at Arden Dies, added: “The Arden tooling was used to validate the customer press sign off procedure during initial installation and is utilised during BOBST operator training.
“The installation trials with Encore Packaging were very successful with the machinery running to maximum output, which is a great result for both ourselves and the customer.”
