A converting partnership that delivers OEE

Arden Dies has been working with leading packaging manufacturer MSO Cleland to optimise machine performance at their site in Belfast.

As a BOBST certified tooling supplier, we’ve been supporting MSO Cleland Ltd to ensure they’re getting the most out of their recent investment in a BOBST die-cutter.

During the recent installation trial at the site, impressive levels of machine performance and productivity were achieved from the BOBST Visioncut 106LER die-cutter.

Simon Lynch, Operations Director at Arden Dies, said: “The partnership between BOBST and Arden Dies is designed to ensure both machine and tooling performances are optimised to deliver the best Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), which is the gold standard for measuring manufacturing productivity.

“We work to an agreed high-performance specification in order to ensure our customers are getting maximum return on their investment. The installation trials with MSO Cleland were very successful and the machinery was running to maximum output, which is incredibly satisfying for both ourselves and the customer.”

All new BOBST die-cutters sold with blanking capability are supplied with two sets of high-performance tooling, courtesy of the Arden and BOBST partnership agreement, which is used to ensure the highest level of performance during installation trials and to support operator training.

Rodney Wardlow, Director of Cartons Manufacturing at MSO, added: “The Bobst Visioncut 106LER installation and training went well, and the initial machine make-ready and output performances were optimised, which was very satisfying to see in a real production situation, given the company’s significant investment commitment.

“We worked with Arden and BOBST in advance of our installation to ensure the tooling layouts selected were representative of our work mix. We have since run both layouts on several occasions, and we are very pleased with the consistent performance achieved from both the machine and tooling.

“The joint approach from both businesses delivered a successful installation and training experience for MSO, from which we can build consistent daily performance.”
