Posted on: Thursday, March 28th, 2024

The Arden Group has been shortlisted in four categories of the North West Family Business Awards.

We’ve been named as a finalist in the Digital Transformation, Environmental Sustainability – The Green Award, and Manufacturing categories.

Meanwhile our Maintenance Manager Josh Wheeler has been shortlisted in the Employee Excellence category, which recognises individual employees who go the extra mile in their dedication and commitment

The North West Family Business Awards celebrate family businesses across the region from all industries and sectors.

At Arden, we’re proud to be a family business – first established as a die-makers in 1964 by brothers Frank and Philip Poynter from the cellar of their family home in Stockport.

Fast forward to today and the Arden Group of companies is a leading name in the packaging sector employing more than 180 people around the world across our die-making, engraving and software divisions.

This year is an extra special year for Arden as we celebrate 60 years in business, and we’re still in the same family ownership – which has now reached its third generation.

Sarah Poynter, our Operations Manager, is the granddaughter of our founder Frank Poynter. She said: “What a great achievement during our 60th year in business. The Arden Group is built on strong family values – and family is at the heart of how we operate. Not only is Arden a family-owned business, but we have worked with generations of other families – siblings, sons, daughters – providing not only a workplace, but an extended family, so it’s a real honour to be recognised in these awards during what is a very special anniversary year for Arden.

“We’re particularly proud of Josh Wheeler who has been shortlisted in the Employee Excellence category. Josh has been part of the extend Arden family for seven years originally joining us as an apprentice before rapidly rising through the ranks to become an integral part of the team, always willing to go the extra mile.

“From the Stockport cellar where it all began 60 years ago, to the global organisation we are today is an achievement we are rightly proud of, and be named as a finalist in these awards is testament to the hard work of every single person who has played their part in the Arden story.”

North West Family Business Awards Co-founder and Director Sue Howorth added: “With another year of increased entries we have been working with our 23 judges which are representing all five counties of the North West, and we know they have had extremely difficult decisions to make. Our finalists should be extremely proud of themselves for being recognised in this year’s shortlist.”

The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony at Bolton Football Stadium on Friday 10 May.
